Purpose of Group

The group was established to focus on benchmarking activity covering "How children outside of school are educated". It was agreed that a sub-group be set up to look at hospital tuition. Education Welfare and Home Education were not included in the scope of the Group.

Activity of Group
Including Position Statement
It was agreed that the categories in which benchmarking activity is to be undertaken should be:
  • Permanent Exclusions.
  • Those children who cannot attend.
  • Those children who will not attend.
  • Medical.
  • Pregnant/school girl mothers.

The above should also relate to relevant Key Stages. The group further agreed that it would need to consider the provision we make for children under each of the above categories under the following headings:

  • Time of referral to an offer of alternative provision.
  • Allocation process.
  • Teaching provision.
  • The curriculum offered.
  • Attendance notes.
  • The absence process gone through when a child does not turn up.
  • The cost per hour per child to deliver.
