Purpose of Group

The group was set up with the purpose of investigating ways and means of how the activities of collecting, collating, managing, analysis and disseminating information could be compared, benchmarked, and best value sought.

The group has concentrated on the message, rather than the messenger, in other words it has been concerned with the processing of information rather than the delivery of such information, the ICT.

Activity of Group
Including Position Statement
Areas of discussion have included DfEE statutory returns, analysis and dissemination of information, Key Stage Results, Asset Management, Forecasting, Common Basic Data Set, and the DfEE Information Management Strategy. Next Meeting February 2002

  • Information Management Strategy (IMS) Linked Indicator
    Percentage of statutory returns made electronically.
  • Efficiency Type Indicator
    Percentage of completed and correct school returns to the DfEE by the deadline.
  • Cost-effectiveness type indicator
    Cost per school for the LEA to administer Form 7 (Annual School Census) and KS1.
  • Forecasting Indicator
    Accuracy of overall LEA forecasts by phase.
  • School Support Indicator
    Indicator of value added support given to schools.
