  draft workplan for benchmarking meetings
Timescale for Operation:
  • The Group should decide this having taken account of its South West Group members' priorities and timing of Best Value Reviews.
  • Normally the timescale of the workplan should not be more than a year to ensure achievable outcomes.

Choice of Benchmarks:

  • Groups that choose too many benchmarks may find the task difficult to achieve.
  • The emphasis should therefore be upon simplicity and choice of available benchmark information and focused benchmarks related to the services.

Workplan Tasks:

  • It is proposed that the Group should meet at least termly.
  • The workplan may have four phases:
First phase - nomination of a Chair
- setting the terms of reference
- agreement on draft indicators for investigation
Second phase - outcome of investigation
- final agreement on list of indicators
- agreement on timescale for full research
Third phase - benchmarking workshop drawing together and confirmation of key indicators
- identification of problem information/ benchmarking for further work
Fourth phase - final drawing together of benchmark information
- agreement on dissemination
- agreement on further support, activities or research
